5th of Nissan

Chassidishe Maaseh
A farmer once got angry at his donkey and decided to throw him into a ditch. If that wasn’t enough, he proceeded to throw heaping dirt piles into the ditch to cover the donkey. Satisfied with his work, the farmer returned to his house but several hours later he was astonished to see the very donkey he’d punished walking towards him! Unbelieving, he turned to his donkey and asked “How in the world did you get here?” The donkey smiled and said, “ Thank you so much, Farmer– those piles you threw down were incredible. They made it possible for me to actually climb out!”

Question of the day
How did the donkey view the piles of dirt?

Quote of Day
If a Jew would only know the power of Tehilim and its affect on high they would be saying it at all times.

Hachlata of the day
Say an extra kapitel Tehilim today

4th of Nissan

Chasidishe Maaseh
Once when the Alter Rebbe was farbrenging with his fellow students of the Mizritcher Maagid, he filled up his glass and said “L’chaim! May G-d help us with our physical and spiritual needs!” His friends looked at him in surprise. “Why did you request physical before spiritual blessings?” they asked. The Alter Rebbe said, “Our forefather Yaakov did the same thing, asking Hashem for gashmius before ruchnius.” His companions responded, “True but the physical of Yaakov Avinu, was on a much higher level then ours. How can you compare the two?”
Replied the Alter Rebbe, “And his Ruchnius can be likened to ours?"
In other words, even Yaakov, whose spirituality far exceeded his involvement in the physical world requested his physical needs before his spiritual concerns. So we too can ask the same thing.

Question of the day
What did the A”R say?

Quote of Day
A chasidishe thought clears ones mind and cleanses ones heart.

Hachlata of the day
Think about the Rebbe for a minute before you go to bed.

Point to Ponder
Seven years old and yet to speak. His parents would have been more worried if the doctors hadn't reassured them that their child seemed neurologically sound, and fit within all the expected parameters of normal development.

One day at breakfast he suddenly turned on his mother and complained, "Mom, this porridge is cold and the toast is burnt!"

Shocked, his mother responded, "If you can talk, why have you said nothing till now?"

"Till now everything has been fine."

How many act like the little chutzpanyak in the above story; never a word of gratitude until everything goes pear-shaped, and then, don't we just kvetch and moan. It's almost as if we expect and demand the good times keep rolling without any effort on our part, while we reserve the right to blame everyone else when the music stops.

3rd of Nissan

Chasidishe Maaseh
A man once dreamt that he was standing in a big building full of people. Suddenly, the ground began to tremble. People panicked and began to run in all directions. The ceiling of the building seemed to be on the verge of collapsing at any moment. Then he saw the Rebbe standing in the room and he was holding the ceiling as if to prevent it from falling on the people in the building. When he woke up in the morning, he remembered his dream but he couldn't make heads or tails of it. That day, while Davening in Shul, his seat suddenly slipped 2 yards to the side. Who was pushing his chair? Looking around, he noticed that all the other chairs in the Shul had also moved! It seemed that an earthquake had just taken place– but miraculously, no one had been hurt! It was at that point that he began to understand his dream...and he realized that this miracle was in the Zchus of the Rebbe.

Question of the day
What was the man’s dream about?

2nd of Nissan

Chasidishe Maaseh
A Lubavitcher Chassid related: He used to put Tefillin on all the soldiers during the Yom Kippur War. Once, the Chassid told one of the soldiers that the next time he goes home, he should tell his wife that he performed the mitzvah of putting on Tefillin. The soldier agreed, but when he returned to the army base– he admitted that he had forgotten all about his promise. Disappointed at having let the Chossid down, the soldier gave his word that on his next visit home, he would tell his wife about the Mitzvah he’d been doing. This time, he did remember. When he returned to the army base, he immediately went to share the news his Lubavitcher friend. “I told her!” he said. “And she just smiled and anwered, ‘Ronen, we have been married for four years now, and this is the first time ever heard about you performing a good deed!’ ”

Question of the day
What was the wife’ reply to Ronen?

Hachlata of the day
Pronounce every word of Mode Ani slowly.

Quote of the day
All of the impurities in the world can not defile the modeh ani of a yid.

Today in Chabad History
Rebbe Rashab's Histalkus and Kabolas Hanisius of Friediker Rebbe

Point to ponder
The same way the Rebbe became Rebbe on Yud Shvat day of the Friediker Rebbe's Histalkus, The Friediker Rebbe became Rebbe on the day of the Rebbe Rashab's Histalkus!

"Think about the Rebbe, because the Rebbe thinks about YOU! Ask yourself, "What did I do TODAY to bring moshiach?" YOU are the Rebbe's feet, Where did YOU take the Rebbe today?

Reb Mendle Futerfas went on a train to do Mivtzah Tefillin. He went from passenger to passenger, asking them if they wished to lay Tefillin. Reb Mendel noticed an elderly man and suggested that he perform the mitzvah. The old man became very upset and began to scream at Reb Mendel.. After the first round of not nice compliments Reb Mendel turned to the man with a smile and replied “But I love you.” The man became even more enraged and went on screaming at Reb Mendel, cursing him out. With every eruption, however, Reb Mendel replied with a smile, “ But I love you.”. And eventually he put on Tefillin because of Reb Mendel’s earnest and heartfelt request.

Question of the day
What did Reb Mendel keep on telling the old man?

Hachlata of the day
Hold back that not nice word that you were about to say.

Quote of the day
Jeiwsh materiality is spirituality. Hashem gives us gashmius so that we can turn it into ruchnius.

"Think about the Rebbe, because the Rebbe thinks about YOU! Ask yourself, "What did I do TODAY to bring moshiach?" YOU are the Rebbe's feet, Where did YOU take the Rebbe today?!

29th of Adar

Chasidishe Maaseh
The Chassidim used to occasionally steal manuscripts of Chassidus that the Rabbaim declined to make public. But on one of the manuscripts the Alter Rebbe wrote, “A Cherim in both this world and next world to anyone who violates the privacy of this manuscript”. Therefore no one dared to steal that one. One time a fire burnt down the whole house destroying everything. The Alter Rebbe was searching for “illegal” copies of his documents. When he searched for the document with the Cherim warning but didn’t find it, his son Reb DovBer said, “Didn’t you write that the punishment for stealing this document is cherim?” The Alter Rebbe replied, “What has become to mesiras nefesh for Torah?”

Question of the day
What would the Chasidim do?

Hachlata of the day
Go out of your way to be nice to a friend.

28th of Adar

Chasidishe Maaseh
Chassidim once came to the Alter Rebbe and condemned someone in their community as a faker and a hypocrite. "He acts really holy," they said, "but inside he is really as coarse and unrefined as anything..." "Well," the Alter Rebbe responded," in that case, may he meet the end that the Talmud predicts for such people." And he explained- "The Talmud warns that one who pretends to be a pauper will eventually find himself stricken with poverty. So along the same lines, one who pretends to be righteous and pious will find that these traits will eventually really be ingrained in him."

Question of the day

What did the A”R respond to the Chassidim?

Hachlata of the day

Wash negel vaser and say asher yatzar after going to the bathroom.
